Justice Lanusungkum Jamir Transferred to Calcutta High Court

The Central government has officially notified the transfer of Justice Lanusungkum Jamir from the Gauhati High Court to the Calcutta High Court. This decision follows the recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium on May 26.

Justice Jamir, a senior judge with over a decade of experience, began his judicial journey as an additional judge of the Gauhati High Court in May 2013. In October 2018, he was transferred to the Manipur High Court, where he was confirmed as a permanent judge in November the same year. Last year, he was posted back to the Gauhati High Court, continuing his judicial service there until this latest transfer.

Justice Jamir completed his LL.B. degree in 1988 from North Eastern Hill University and enrolled with the Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Tripura in 1989. Over the years, he has gained extensive experience across multiple jurisdictions in the Northeast, bringing a wealth of legal expertise to his new role at the Calcutta High Court.
