A division bench of the Jharkhand High Court on Monday transferred a writ petition challenging the state government’s decision to cancel multiple recruitment examinations to a single-judge bench already hearing related matters.
The order was passed by a bench comprising Chief Justice M S Sonak and Justice Rajesh Shankar during proceedings on a plea filed by job aspirants Aditya Bhaskar and Ayush Kumar Verma. The bench directed the transfer after being apprised that a single judge of the high court was already seized of similar petitions challenging the government’s cancellation orders.
Plea By Judicial Service Aspirants
The petitioners, who had appeared for the Civil Judge (Junior Division) examination conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), approached the court against the state’s decision to annul the examination and its corresponding appointment process.
Their challenge is among several petitions submitted to the high court contesting the statewide cancellation of recruitment drives conducted by the JPSC and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).
Statewide Cancellation of Tests
The controversy arises from an order issued on August 18 by the state government’s Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Rajbhasha Department. Through the notification, the state cancelled a series of examinations and associated recruitment processes conducted since 2014 by the JPSC, the JSSC, and an outsourced agency, citing alleged irregularities in the conduct of the selection exercises.
