Jharkhand High Court Halts Government Cancellation of JSSC-CGL and CDPO Recruitments

In a major legal development, the Jharkhand High Court on Friday stayed state government notifications that had cancelled recruitments conducted through the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission-Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) examination and appointments of Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs).

Court Delivers Latest Stay Order

Petitioner advocate Indrajit Sinha confirmed that the court put on hold the operation of official notifications targeting both the JSSC-CGL recruitment drive and the appointments of CDPOs.

The ruling is the high court’s second stay order issued in quick succession regarding state competitive tests. On Wednesday, the court granted similar interim relief by staying notifications that had scrapped the 11th and 13th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examinations.

The judicial intervention comes in the wake of sweeping administrative measures implemented by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led state government on August 18. Amid a 25-day public demonstration sparked by allegations of recruitment irregularities, the state administration had cancelled 22 competitive examinations and initiated investigations into 23 other selection processes conducted since 2014.
