In a significant development, the High Court has dismissed the application filed by fugitive former minister Amarmani Tripathi, dimming his Holi celebrations. Tripathi, who had been on the run, sought to challenge the seizure of his properties but the court found no merit in his plea.
The MP-MLA court had previously ordered Tripathi to surrender, against which the former minister had approached the Allahabad High Court. Tripathi had challenged the non-bailable warrant (NBW) issued against him in the high court, following which the court reserved its judgment after a hearing on March 20. The decision has now been announced, upholding the lower court’s directive.
It should be noted that Amarmani Tripathi had been declared a fugitive by the Basti court in connection with a kidnapping case. The court had also ordered the attachment of his properties. Tripathi’s challenge to the non-bailable warrant issued by the Basti court was dismissed by Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh of the High Court, who stated that Tripathi’s petition lacked merit.
