In a significant reshuffle aimed at administrative efficiency and national judicial integration, the Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting on May 26, 2025, has recommended the transfer of four judges from the Allahabad High Court to various High Courts across the country.
Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra is being transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He has had a distinguished tenure at the Allahabad High Court, and his transfer marks a significant strengthening of the P&H bench.
Justice Vivek Chaudhary and Justice Om Prakash Shukla are both being moved to the Delhi High Court. Their transfer will bolster the judicial strength of the national capital, which is often burdened with complex and high-profile matters.

Justice Jayant Banerji has been proposed to be moved to the Karnataka High Court. His transfer aims to fill the judicial deficit in the southern bench.
Additionally, two judges — Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh and Justice Vivek Kumar Singh — whose parent High Court is Allahabad, are being transferred from Kerala to Karnataka and from Madras to Madhya Pradesh, respectively. These repatriations align with the Collegium’s broader strategy to rationalize judicial placements across regions.
