A District Judge of the Patiala House Courts has filed a police complaint after fake court orders bearing his forged signature and false designation were widely circulated on social media, prompting the registration of an FIR by the Cyber Police Station in New Delhi.
The complaint, filed by the District Judge of the Commercial Court-01 through his Senior Judicial Assistant, alleges that forged documents—purporting to be official court orders including an arrest warrant and an asset seizure directive—were disseminated on various digital platforms. These orders falsely identified the judge as a “Judicial Magistrate First Class” and bore a forged signature resembling his own.
The first incident was reported on May 31, 2024, when a fake arrest warrant titled “State Vs Ms. Ankita” surfaced online. A prior incident had occurred in December 2024, involving a forged asset seizure order dated December 2, 2024, in the case of “State Vs Sanket Suresh Satam.” Both documents were entirely fabricated, according to the complaint.
“Besides the above, I have received similar messages on my WhatsApp and complaints have been made to the concerned higher authorities. It is pertinent to mention here that the above-mentioned documents/orders i.e. Warrant of Arrest & Asset Seizure Order, are forged. I have not issued/ passed any such Order,” the judge stated in the FIR.
The judge also reported that he no longer had access to the original messages or the contact details from which they were sent.
After preliminary inquiry, the police determined that offences under Sections 204 (Personating a public servant), 336 (Forgery), and 337 (Forgery of court records or public documents) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) were prima facie established. Consequently, an FIR was registered on April 23, 2025, at the Cyber Police Station of the New Delhi District.
