Five Sentenced to Life Imprisonment in Land Dispute Murder Case

In a landmark judgment, the Orchha Police Station area court sentenced five family members to life imprisonment on Wednesday for their involvement in a brutal attack that led to a young man’s death during a land dispute four years ago.

The incident unfolded on June 22, 2020, when Prem Singh from Deri village reported to Orchha police that his brother Ranveer had summoned him over a land dispute. According to Singh’s report, he, along with his younger brother Kattu alias Dadu, and Ranveer, were attacked near Siddh Baba Temple in Deri village.

The altercation began when Garjan Singh, one of the accused, objected to Prem Singh clearing vegetation from the disputed land after showing his property documents. Enraged, Garjan summoned his brother Bhagwan Singh and their associates Veer Singh, Jeetendra Singh, and Sonu Singh, who arrived armed with sticks.

The ensuing attack left Prem Singh severely injured, bleeding profusely on the ground, while Ranveer and Kattu also sustained injuries. The aggressors threatened further violence if the victims returned to the disputed land. The injured were rushed to the district hospital for treatment, where Prem Singh succumbed to his injuries.

Subsequently, the police registered a case and presented charges against Bhagwan Singh, Garjan Singh, Veer Singh, Jeetendra Singh, and Sonu Singh. In court, AGP Vishwanath Nayak represented the deceased’s family, presenting all evidence and witnesses.
