In a shocking development, an FIR has been registered in Gomti Nagar Police Station, Lucknow, against a female lawyer accused of entrapping senior officials in false marriage and rape cases to extort money. The lawyer, identified as Shalini Sharma from Janak Nagar, Saharanpur, allegedly used fake marriage certificates to initiate these claims.
The plot, believed to be orchestrated by a gang led by two lawyers stationed in the Allahabad Court, involved using young women to approach and trap high-ranking officials. Once these officials were ensnared, they faced threats of legal action and public defamation if they refused to pay the demanded sums.
Deepak Kumar, an APO posted in Varanasi, fell victim to such a scam. He reported that Sharma claimed they were married with a certificate registered on January 2, 2001, in Saharanpur. However, upon investigation, it was revealed that the marriage was never officially registered, and the documents provided to the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh were found to be forged.

Sharma, along with her accomplices Ashok Kumar Pandey and Waseem Ahmed, is accused of exploiting the legal system to blackmail officials. They would even go as far as sending copies of FIRs to the victims’ departments, tarnishing their reputations and triggering departmental investigations.
In two notorious cases, Sharma’s tactics have led to severe consequences for the victims:
1. Case of Banarsi Babu: A false rape case was registered against Deepak Kumar in George Town Police Station, Allahabad, after he refused to meet the financial demands of the gang. Despite proving that he was in Banaras at the time, the local SP had to intervene and ultimately the case was dismissed due to lack of evidence.
2. Case against an Army Officer: In 2021, a fake case was filed against an army officer and his family in Janakpuri, Saharanpur, accusing them of wrongful land possession. The officer, fearing for his career and reputation, remained silent.
Following these incidents, the Bar Council took decisive action by revoking Shalini Sharma’s registration and imposing a fine of ₹50,000. Despite the registration of cases in Varanasi and Lucknow, Sharma remains at large.
