The Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy on 07-12-2025 organised a State Level Meet of the Judges of the Family Court, Counsellors, Social Welfare Agencies and Other Officers Related to Family Courts at Vivekananda Auditorium of Academy, under the esteemed leadership of Hon’ble Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice High Court of Chhattisgarh & Patron-In-Chief Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy, bringing together key stakeholders engaged in the administration of justice in family-related matters. Hon’ble the Chief Justice virtually inaugurated the State Level Meet.
Hon’ble the Chief Justice addressed the gathering and highlighted the vital role of Family Courts in protecting the most sensitive and foundational unit of society—the family. His Lordship emphasised that Family Courts are not limited to adjudicating disputes; they safeguard relationships, promote reconciliation, and help heal emotional distress. Hon’ble the Chief Justice underscored that the work of Family Courts demands legal expertise coupled with empathy, patience, and an understanding of human behaviour, creating a compassionate ecosystem formed by judges, counsellors, social workers, and support agencies.
Hon’ble the Chief Justice stated that the objective of the meet was not only to review challenges but also to reaffirm the collective responsibility of ensuring that every individual approaching the Family Court is treated with dignity, understanding, and timely relief. The sensitivity with which cases are handled often determines whether a family emerges healed or further divided.
Acknowledging the critical role of counsellors and social welfare agencies, the Chief Justice appreciated their interventions in restoring harmony in strained relationships. Their assistance, he noted, remains indispensable for holistic decision-making in Family Courts.
The address also drew attention to persistent concerns such as case pendency, infrastructural limitations, the need for specialised training, and the growing complexity of family disputes involving domestic violence, child custody, maintenance, adoption, and guardianship. His Lordship stressed the need for constant upskilling and enhanced coordination among all stakeholders.
Hon’ble the Chief Justice urged all participants to strive to ensure that every Family Court becomes a forum where disputes are resolved with fairness, dignity, and sensitivity, with paramount consideration for the welfare of children.
The programme was enriched by the presence of Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Rajani Dubey, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Arvind Kumar Verma, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Amitendra Kishore Prasad, Judges of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, and Shri Ranbir Singh Marhas, Additional Advocate General State of Chhattisgarh, who graced the event as resource persons and experts. Their vast experience, deep insight, and practical understanding significantly contributed to enhancing the participants’ understanding of the evolving dynamics of family disputes.
The event was attended by the Principal Secretary, Govt. of C.G., Law & Legi. Affairs Dept, Registrar General & other Registry Officers of High Court, Member Secretary & other officers of CGSLSA. Welcome address was delivered by Director of Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy and concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Additional Director of Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy.
