Ex-Union Minister Kapil Sibal Wins SCBA President Election

In a significant development in the legal circles, former Union Minister and eminent lawyer Kapil Sibal has been elected as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA). Known for his vast experience in law and politics, Sibal secured the prestigious position in a closely contested election.

Total 2350 votes were polled out of 2850 votes. Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai and Adish Adish Aggarwala were trailing at number 2 and 3.

Sibal secured 1,066 votes and defeated nearest rival Senior Counsel Pradeep Rai.

Sibal last served as the president of SCBA in 2001-02. He has served twice before that as well – in 1995–1996, 1997–1998.

Kapil Sibal, contested the election after two decades, he has served as the Minister of Law and Justice among other portfolios, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the SCBA. His legal acumen, particularly in constitutional law, has been recognized both in the courtroom and through his contributions to legislative processes.
