The Delhi High Court has set July 31 as the date for hearing a petition filed by BRS leader K Kavitha, challenging her arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. The petition also contests the trial court’s decision to send her to CBI custody.
Justice Swarn Kant Sharma, due to a reshuffle in the Delhi High Court roster, released the case from his board and scheduled it for a hearing before the appropriate bench on the designated date. This legal move comes after the CBI implicated Kavitha in a scheme involving manipulation and tampering related to Delhi’s excise policy.
In her petition, Kavitha argues that the proceedings leading to her arrest and subsequent detention are a “curse to law” and violate the fundamental principles of justice, particularly concerning her ongoing detention in another (ED) case. She claims that these actions infringe upon her fundamental rights under Articles 21 and 22 (1) and (2) of the Constitution.
