Important cases heard by the Delhi High Court on Friday, December 8:
* HC said the Delhi Medical Council should be more effective and have its presence on ground to deal with the problem of quacks and sought its stand on verification of doctors.
* Financial losses due to cyber fraud diminish people’s trust in online transaction platforms which is against the aspirations of an “advanced Digital Bharat”, the HC has said, noting this discourages newcomers from entering the digital realm, negatively impacting the economy.
* Popular Front of India (PFI) Friday moved the HC challenging an order of an Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) tribunal confirming the five-year ban imposed on it by the Centre.
* HC sought the stand of the Centre on the status of Waqf properties likely to be impacted by the Central Vista Redevelopment Project.
* HC has set aside a communication which had cancelled the candidature of a national level woman shooter and recommendation for her appointment to the Delhi Judicial Service (DJS).
