The Delhi High Court has postponed proceedings regarding the CBI’s challenge to a trial court’s discharge order in the high-profile liquor policy case. On Friday, the court deferred the matter to May 11, citing the need to finalize legal representation for key Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders named in the case.
Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, presiding over the matter, announced that the delay is necessary as the court awaits formal consent from senior lawyers to represent Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Durgesh Pathak.
The hearing centered on a petition filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which seeks to overturn a lower court’s decision to discharge the AAP leaders. However, the court noted that three of the individuals involved currently lack official representation.
“There are three persons who are not represented. I am awaiting the consent of some persons who will be representing them,” Justice Sharma stated during the proceedings.
The court has established a clear roadmap for the coming days to ensure the matter proceeds without further delay:
- Monday, May 11: Justice Sharma is expected to pass the necessary orders regarding the appointment of legal counsel for the AAP leaders.
- Tuesday: The court is slated to begin substantive hearings on the CBI’s petition.
This legal battle remains a focal point of interest as the CBI continues its effort to challenge the trial court’s earlier discharge order involving the top leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party.
