Delhi HC Dismisses Frivolous Petition Against PM Modi, Says Psychological Evaluation for Petitioner

In a recent ruling, the Delhi High Court dismissed a petition seeking to disqualify Prime Minister Narendra Modi from contesting elections, chastising the petitioner for the absurd allegations. The bench led by Acting Chief Justice Manmohan criticized the petition as baseless and indicative of possible mental health issues on the part of the petitioner, Captain Deepak Kumar.

Captain Deepak Kumar, a pilot by profession, filed the petition alleging that PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had taken their oaths improperly, which should render them disqualified. Additionally, he accused them of attempting to destabilize national security. However, the High Court found the claims to be irrational and dismissed the petition outright on Wednesday.

The court noted that the accusations were “senseless” and suggested that either delusion or another mental health problem might be afflicting the petitioner, necessitating medical assistance. Following the sharp rebuke, the court advised local authorities to monitor Kumar and, if necessary, intervene under the Mental Healthcare Act to provide appropriate treatment.
