Court Orders Trial in ₹15 Crore Fraud Case Involving MS Dhoni and Sports Management Firm

A criminal lawsuit is set to proceed against the individuals associated with Arka Sports Private Limited and Management Limited, including Mihir Diwakar and Saumya Das, for allegedly defrauding former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni of ₹15 crores. The decision was announced by the Judicial Magistrate Raj Kumar Pandey of Ranchi Civil Court after taking cognizance of the charges.

The court has issued summons for the presence of the accused following the acknowledgment of the fraud case involving a substantial sum. The individuals in question are accused of causing significant financial harm to Dhoni. The court reserved its order on March 6th after the hearing and a complaint was lodged on Dhoni’s behalf by his representative Simant Lohani.

Lohani, acting as Dhoni’s representative, registered the lawsuit on October 27, 2023, following the authority granted by Dhoni to pursue legal action. The lawsuit alleges that Diwakar had entered into an agreement with Dhoni in 2017 to establish cricket academies globally. Despite being granted the franchise, the agreement’s terms, including a 70% profit share for Dhoni, were reportedly not honored, leading to the termination of the agreement in August 2021.

Despite the termination and subsequent legal notices sent by Dhoni, the accused allegedly continued to operate cricket academies under Dhoni’s name, resulting in financial damages amounting to ₹15 crores. The lawsuit encompasses charges of fraud, breach of trust, and the creation of forged documents.
