In Baglekar Akash Kumar vs Google LLC, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) passed its order on 15.10.2020 concerning Google.
The CCI issued notice to the respondent( Google LLC) and directed them to file their reply within four weeks of receipt of the order.
What is the Allegation against Google?
The informant alleged that Google has abused its dominant position by integrating its Video Conferencing application ‘Google Meet’ with its Google Mail app.
Information in the instant case is lodged under Section 19(1)(a) of the Competition Act,2002.
It is alleged that Google LLC was violating provisions of Section 4(2)(e) of the Competition Act.
What Competition Commission (CCI) did?
The Competition Commission of India considered the issue in its ordinary meeting held on Thursday.
After deliberation, the Commission decided to forward the copy to the Opposite party and directed them to file their para wise reply within four weeks of receiving the order.
The opposite party shall supply an advance copy of their reply to the informant.
CCI also issied warning hat if the replies/ rejoinders were not filed within the stipulated time, the Commission would move forward based on material available on record.
