Today, on 09/01/2025, in a landmark ceremony, Hon’ble Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh virtually inaugurated the New Residential Colony for Judicial Officers in Janjgir-Champa District from the High Court of Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur. Hon’ble Shri Justice Deepak Kumar Tiwari, Judge of Chhattisgarh High Court and Portfolio Judge for Janjgir-Champa, also graced the event virtually.
Hon’ble The Chief Justice extended his heartfelt congratulations to everyone on the occasion of this inauguration of the New Residential Colony. In his address, the Hon’ble Chief Justice stated that as part of the development of judicial infrastructure, this inauguration of the residential colony for Judicial Officers in Janjgir-Champa is taking place at the beginning of the New Year.
Addressing the gathering virtually from the High Court, Hon’ble the Chief Justice expressed that, while the judiciary in Chhattisgarh is being provided with the best infrastructure and modern facilities, it is the responsibility of judicial officers to deliver optimal results, resolve more cases than before, and reduce the number of pending cases.
Hon’ble The Chief Justice further stated that “judicial officers must ensure that litigants seeking justice in their courts receive swift, affordable, and prompt justice without any hindrance”.
Hon’ble The Chief Justice also announced that, in response to the demand from the District Bar Association of Janjgir-Champa for the installation of ATMs in the court premises, the High Court has amended its rules to allow the installation of ATMs in court premises across the State. This step highlights the Hon’ble Chief Justice’s sensitivity towards addressing the concerns of litigants, judicial officers, and advocates.
Hon’ble The Chief Justice emphasized the importance of creating an eco-friendly environment in the residential colony. To accomplish this goal, His Lordship instructed the Principal District Judge and officials from the Forest Department to take the necessary steps for tree planting within the colony and its surroundings, promoting a sustainable and green ecosystem. This directive highlights the Chief Justice’s commitment to environmental conservation and ensuring a healthy, thriving environment for future generations.
Hon’ble The Chief Justice virtually inspected the newly inaugurated residential colony for judicial officers, which includes two “C” type residences and four “D” type residences, totalling six fully equipped accommodations. The availability of such facilities is expected to enhance the quality of life for judicial officers and create a better working environment.
During the inauguration program, Principal District Judge Janjgir-Champa, Shri Shakti Singh Rajput, in his welcome address, expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Justice for his consistent efforts to improve the judicial system, court buildings, and housing for judicial officers. He acknowledged that these achievements are a result of the Hon’ble Chief Justice’s vision and unwavering commitment to strengthening the judicial framework in the State.
Judicial infrastructure, Court buildings with facilities like Banks, Dispensaries, Post Offices and accommodations for officers and staff have always been a priority for Hon’ble The Chief Justice. Under His visionary leadership and guidance, there has been significant progress and improvement in the judicial infrastructure, Court buildings, Post offices and dispensaries in Court premises and residential facilities for officers and staff in the State of Chhattisgarh. This development has not only facilitated litigants but also created a better work environment for judicial officers and staff.
The virtual inauguration program was attended by the Registrar General of the Chhattisgarh High Court, Shri K. Vinod Kujur, other registry officials, judicial officers of Janjgir-Champa district, administrative officers, advocates, and representatives from print and electronic media.
