Chhattisgarh HC CJ Stresses on commitment to establish qualitative Judicial Infrastructure and Residential Facilities in Every District

Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh – 05th January 2025 – Today marked a historical advancement in the justice delivery system as the virtual Bhumi Pujan, foundation stone laying and inscription stone unveiling ceremony for the Construction of New Residential Coloney for Judicial staff at Junwani, Durg District, Chhattisgarh was successfully done at 10:00 a.m. by Hon‘ble Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh.

Due to the commitment to leveraging technology event was conducted online, enabling broader participation. Power point presentation of proposed building displaying the facilities was also showcased in the event.

Presiding over the digital platform, the Hon‘ble Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur, addressed the virtual gathering with insight and foresight along with esteemed presence Hon’ble Shri Justice Naresh Kumar Chandravanshi Judge, High Court of Chhattisgarh, and Portfolio Judge for Durg District.

This event reflects the priority and commitment of Hon’ble Chief Justice to improving the infrastructure for Judiciary. Hon’ble The Chief Justice emphasised on vision to establish proper Judicial infrastructure well equipped with advanced facilities in every district. In line with this vision, the Bhoomi Poojan ceremony for the New Residential Colony is being organised.

Hon’ble The Chief Justice, addressing the gathering virtually from the High Court of Bilaspur, stated that the priority is to provide high-quality and well-equipped courts and residential buildings in every district of Chhattisgarh. To enhance the infrastructure of the judicial system in the State, several projects for establishing new Court Room and residential colony were virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation recently in Raigarh and other locations. Taking another step in this direction, today marks the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of a residential colony for judicial employees in Durg.

In his address, Hon’able The Chief Justice remarked that Chhattisgarh State was established on November 1, 2000, and this year, we are celebrating its “Silver Jubilee.”

The Chhattisgarh High Court was also established on the same date, and we are celebrating its “Silver Jubilee” as well. Reflecting on the advancements in judicial infrastructure, Hon’ble The Chief Justice noted the recent inauguration in district Raigarh and other districts and today’s foundation stone laying ceremony in Durg are in line of said vision.

Hon’ble The Chief Justice, extended heartfelt congratulations to everyone on the occasion of this Bhumi Pujan. His Lordship directed the Principal District & Sessions Judge, District Magistrate Durg and the Public Works Department to ensure the timely completion of the project without any compromise on quality.

This proposed new residential colony, whose foundation was laid by the Hon’ble The Chief Justice will consist of 28 “G” Type, 20 “H” Type, 20 “I” Type total no. of 68 residences. For construction of proposed colony 3.30 acres of land has been allotted. The project has a completion timeframe of 18 months. His Lordship also reviewed the virtual layout of the proposed residential colony during the ceremony.

It is noteworthy that in the 25th year of the State’s formation, the “Silver Jubilee Year,” a series of inauguration and foundation-laying ceremonies for various judicial infrastructure projects were initiated by Honourable The Chief Justice from November 1. As part of this, the following events took place:

  • On November 4, 2024: The much-awaited and newly established District and Additional Sessions Court was inaugurated in Narayanpur revenue district.
  • On November 20, 2024: Post Office In South Bastar Dantewada district court complex, a residential colony with 24 housing units for judicial officers and staff was inaugurated in and G.A.D. Colony, Bijapur.
  • On December 2, 2024: The much-anticipated and newly established Civil Court at Arang, a tehsil headquarters in Raipur district, was inaugurated.
  • On December 23, 2024: The foundation stone for the new District Court building in Balod was laid.
  • On January 4, 2025: In Raigarh district the inauguration of a residential colony for judicial officers, an additional court building in Gharghora, and residential quarters for staff took place. Additionally, the foundation stone for the proposed Nyaya Sadan building in the district court complex Raigarh was laid.
  • Today, January 5, 2025: The foundation stone for a 68-unit residential colony in Junwani, District Durg, was laid.

During the foundation-laying ceremony, Principal District Judge of Durg, Dr. Pragya Pachauri, expressed in her welcome address that the credit for paving the way for constructing 68 residential units for judicial staff goes entirely to Hon’ble The Chief Justice. His Lordship’s State-wide tours to understand the issues faced by employees and his efforts to address them have made this initiative possible. The visionary and welfare-oriented approach of Hon’ble The Chief Justice has turned the dream of constructing 68 residential units for staff of Durg District Court into a reality today.

Judicial infrastructure, Court buildings with facilities like Banks, Dispensaries, Post Offices and accommodations for officers and staff have always been a priority for Hon’ble The Chief Justice. Under His visionary leadership and guidance, there has been significant progress and improvement in the judicial infrastructure, Court buildings, Post offices and dispensaries in Court premises and residential facilities for officers and staff in the State of Chhattisgarh. This development has not only facilitated litigants but also created a better work environment for judicial officers and staff.

The virtual ceremony was attended by Registrar General Mr. K. Vinod Kujur, legal professionals, officers from judiciary and administration, print and electronic media, all expressing excitement for the proposed new Court building’s potential to enhance legal proceedings and accessibility in the region.
