Chhattisgarh HC Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha Takes Ground-breaking Step in Virtually Monitoring National Lok Adalat Across 23 Districts

Bilaspur, July 13th, 2024: In a ground-breaking initiative, Honโ€™ble Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh and Patron-in-Chief of the Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority, Honโ€™ble Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha, virtually connected with all 23 districts from the High Court to oversee the progress of this yearโ€™s second National Lok Adalat. This significant step underscores the crucial role that Lok Adalats play in the amicable resolution of disputes, promoting peace and harmony within society.

The Lok Adalat held this time was particularly remarkable due to the personal interest and dedication of Honโ€™ble Chief Justice Shri Ramesh Sinha. His belief that the duties of a High Court Judge as custodian of public trust extend beyond courtrooms led to this historical success. Inspired by his leadership, Honโ€™ble High Court Judges visited their respective portfolio districts, ensuring thorough monitoring and successful organization of the Lok Adalat, bringing satisfaction to numerous litigants.

During a virtual session with a Magistrate Court in Raigarh District, a domestic violence case involving an elderly couple was resolved in the presence of Honโ€™ble the Chief Justice. This amicable settlement highlighted the effectiveness of virtual monitoring. Honโ€™ble Chief Justice Shri Ramesh Sinha expressed appreciation for the efforts of both litigants and offered his best wishes for their future, emphasizing the human touch in judicial proceedings.

Honโ€™ble Chief Justice Shri Ramesh Sinha visited two of the benches constituted for National Lok Adalat for High Court of Bilaspur. Apart from the visit his Lord utilized virtual platforms to connect with and monitor the proceedings in all 23 districts. This innovative approach not only ensured transparency but also highlighted the commitment to leverage technology to enhance judicial processes. Honโ€™ble Chief Justice Shri Ramesh Sinhaโ€™s virtual presence and real-time interaction with Principal District Judges exemplified a new era of judicial oversight and public trust.

Honโ€™ble Chief Justice Shri Ramesh Sinhaโ€™s initiative extended to ensuring the presence of Honโ€™ble High Court Judges in their respective districts, bolstering public trust and the credibility of the National Lok Adalats across Chhattisgarh. This hands-on approach, coupled with virtual oversight from Bilaspur, guaranteed transparency and efficiency in resolving disputes, from Taluka courts to the High Court.

The concerted efforts of the judiciary, spearheaded by Honโ€™ble Chief Justice Shri Ramesh Sinha, culminated in a historically successful Lok Adalat, characterized by numerous amicable resolutions and happy litigants. This initiative sets a new standard for future Lok Adalats, showcasing the potential of virtual monitoring and on-ground involvement in delivering justice effectively and compassionately.

This National Lok Adalat saw the settlement of more than 7,73,000 pre-litigation cases and more than 64,500 pending cases, providing financial relief totalling around  โ‚น 1,99,00,00,000.  Various disputes, including labor disputes, motor accident claims, cheque dishonor cases, civil cases, land acquisition cases, plea bargaining, criminal compoundable offenses, arbitration cases, matrimonial cases, and issues related to electricity and water bills were addressed for settlement in this National Lok Adalat.
