May 6th, 2025: The District Court at Kanker and Bhanupratapur witnessed a significant stride in judicial infrastructure today with the virtual inauguration of the newly constructed Residential Colony for Judicial Employees of the Civil Court, Bhanupratappur, and the laying of foundation stones for:
(i) the new Advocate Chamber Building at Kanker,
(ii) the Residential Quarters for the Judge, Family Court, Kanker, and
(iii) Residential Quarters for Judicial Employees of Civil Court, Bhanupratappur
by Hon’ble Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh — a unique initiative aimed at creating a serene and welcoming judicial environment.
Hon’ble Mr. Justice Amitendra Kishore Prasad, Judge, High Court of Chhattisgarh and Portfolio Judge of Kanker District, also graced the event virtually.
In his address, Hon’ble the Chief Justice Shri Ramesh Sinha emphasised:
“As judicial infrastructure expands, our commitment to deliver timely and effective justice must also grow—guided by compassion and fairness.”
He remarked that:
“Access to justice begins not merely in courtrooms, but in upholding the dignity of those who serve within them.”
Hon’ble the Chief Justice lauded the efforts, stating that the inauguration and foundation-laying are not merely symbolic milestones in infrastructure development, but rather reinforce the very foundation of the justice delivery system — ensuring the well-being and morale of the Judicial Officers and staff.
These initiatives go beyond infrastructure. They represent a vision of accessibility, dignity, and mutual respect among all pillars of the judiciary. Comfortable housing for judicial staff ensures their welfare and stability, while dedicated Bar Rooms support the professional needs of the legal community. A well-equipped residence for the Family Court Judge ensures security and convenience.
The programme commenced with the welcome address by the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kanker, and concluded with a vote of thanks on behalf of the District Judiciary by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kanker.
The virtual ceremony also witnessed the presence of the Registrar General, Officers of the Registry, Judicial Officers of the District Court Kanker & Bhanupratapur, Officials from the District Administration and Police Department, Distinguished Members of the Bar Associations of Kanker & Bhanupratapur, and Representatives from print and electronic media.
