April 28: In a significant stride towards the modernization and technological advancement of the judiciary, Hon’ble Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh, virtually inaugurated the Digitization Centre, Lawyer’s Hall, and New Conference Hall at District and Sessions Court, Durg today.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Shri Justice Narendra Kumar Vyas, Portfolio Judge for District Durg and Chairman of the High Court Computerization Committee, along with Shri Justice Rakesh Mohan Pandey, Shri Justice Ravindra Kumar Agrawal, and Shri Justice Bibhu Datta Guru, all Hon’ble Judges of Chhattisgarh High Court and respected members of the High Court Computerization Committee.
Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble the Chief Justice congratulated the Judgeship of District Durg for achieving this important milestone. Reflecting on the inauguration, he stated,

“Today’s event marks another proud step forward as we embrace modern technology to create a more congenial working environment. The collective efforts of judicial officers, bar members, and administrative officials have made this possible.”
His Lordship emphasized that Durg, one of the largest Judgeships in Chhattisgarh, is now well-equipped to move towards a paperless environment, following the successful implementation of similar initiatives at Bilaspur and Raipur.
“After Bilaspur and Raipur, Durg becomes the third district to implement the Digitization Centre. I have urged the Computerization Committee to extend this project across all judgeships of the State Judiciary at the earliest,” the Chief Justice said.
It is noteworthy ,that due to persistent efforts of Hon’ble the Chief Justice, 3359 cases pending in High Court , 2543 cases pending in District Court Raipur,and 2055 cases pending in District Court Bilaspur, have been effectively scanned till date.
Commending the establishment of the Lawyer’s Hall and the New Conference Hall, Hon’ble Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha noted the necessity of better infrastructure for efficient judicial functioning. He recalled his previous visits to Durg and highlighted his continuous efforts in seeking government support for a new, modern court complex in the heart of the city.
Hon’ble the Chief Justice also underscored the national vision of digitizing court records, in line with the monitoring by the Hon’ble Supreme Court, to reduce the burden of physical records and promote efficiency in judicial proceedings.
“With digitalization advancing at full speed, we are moving closer to eliminating voluminous record handling, ensuring smoother and faster court operations,” he remarked.
Sitting Capacity of Conference Hall is approximately 250 persons.
Under the efficient guidance of Hon’ble the Chief Justice Shri Ramesh Sinha,,the inauguration marks a vital moment for the District Judiciary at Durg, signaling a future of enhanced infrastructure, greater technological integration, and a commitment to faster, more accessible justice delivery.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with a welcome address by the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Durg, highlighting the journey and significance of the new facilities, and concluded with a vote of thanks by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Durg.
The Registrar General ,Officers of the Registry, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Durg, Judicial Officers, Bar Members, Officers of the District Administration, and Media Representatives were also present, both physically and virtually.
