CBI Lists Indrani Mukerjea’s Daughter as Witness in Sheena Bora Murder Case

In a significant development in the Sheena Bora murder case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) submitted its second list of witnesses to a special court on Thursday. The list includes Vidhie Mukerjea, the daughter of the prime accused, Indrani Mukerjea, and her former husband, Sanjeev Khanna, who is also implicated in the case.

This new list names 125 individuals whom the CBI intends to examine as prosecution witnesses, supplementing the initial list of 69 witnesses presented last week. The addition of Vidhie Mukerjea to the witness list marks a pivotal turn in the ongoing legal proceedings, particularly following Indrani Mukerjea’s recent inquiry to the CBI regarding her daughter’s status as a witness. Indrani, who was granted conditional bail, sought clarity from the CBI to ascertain whether she could meet Vidhie, as her bail conditions explicitly prohibit contact with any witnesses linked to the case.

Sheena Bora, Indrani’s daughter from a previous relationship, was allegedly murdered in 2012. According to investigations, she was strangled by Indrani, her driver Shyamvar Rai, and Sanjeev Khanna. The trio then allegedly disposed of her body by burning it in a forest in Raigad district. The case only came to light in 2015 following revelations by Rai, who turned approver after his arrest in another case.

The involvement of high-profile figures, including former media executives Indrani and Peter Mukerjea, has kept this case in the public eye. Both were arrested in 2015, along with Khanna, and have since been released on bail.
