Can CBI Register FIR in Corruption Case Without Conducting Preliminary Enquiry? Supreme Court Judgment

The Supreme Court has ruled that preliminary enquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation in cases of corruption are not required. A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud, Vikram Nath, and BV Nagarathna held that it is not mandatory for the CBI to conduct a preliminary enquiry before registering a case, it can directly do so.
