Calcutta High Court Grants Bail to TMC MLA Manik Bhattacharya in Teacher Recruitment Scam

In a recent development concerning the ongoing teacher recruitment scandal in West Bengal, Trinamool Congress MLA Manik Bhattacharya has been granted bail by the Calcutta High Court. Justice Suvra Ghosh issued the bail on Thursday with stringent conditions, including the surrender of Bhattacharya’s passport and restrictions on his travel without prior permission from the investigating officer.

Manik Bhattacharya, who represents Palashipara in Nadia district, was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in 2022, following allegations of widespread irregularities in the recruitment processes for teachers across the state. He has also held the position of chairman of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education, which has been under scrutiny during the investigations.
