Uttar Pradesh Cabinet clears the “Dharam Viruddh Samparivarthan Prathised Adhyadesh, 2020”.
Main Pointers of this Ordinance are-
1. Jail Term of 1 to 5 years with Rs 15000 penalty for forceful conversion.
2. There will be jail term of 3-10 years with fine of Rs 25000 on forceful conversion of minors and women of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Community.
3. Three to 10 years of jail with Rs 50,000 fine in case of forced mass conversion.
Now If someone wants to perform marriage after converting their religion, they will need to take permission from District Magistrate two months prior to marriage
Now after Haryana and Madhya Pradesh, UP is third state to pass such a law.
