On Thursday the Supreme Court disposed off the Petition challenging Decision of Jammu and Kashmir Government to deport 15o Rohingya Refugees from Jammu and Kashmir.
The Bench 0f Hon’ble CJ SA Bobde, Hon’ble Justice AS Bopanna and Hon’ble Justice V Ramasubramanian has directed that no refugee shall be deported to Mayanmar unless the procedure prescribed is followed.
Prashant Bhushan, Advocate had filed this Petition seeking a direction to Home Ministry to grant identification card to Rohingyas, who are staying in camps.
SG Tushar Mehta, opposed the Petition on behalf of the Central Government and contended that Rohingyas are not refugees, they are illegal migrants and the Government is in touch with the Myanmar Government to deport them.
To this, Mr Bhushan submitted that there is Military Government in Myanmar, therefore there is life is in threat there.
The Bench also refused to hear the UN Special Rapporteur, as Mr Harish Salve appearing for J&K Government opposed it.
