The Bombay High Court on Wednesday instructed its registry to place a petition filed by Satish Salian, the father of the late Disha Salian, before an appropriate bench. The petition demands a CBI investigation into the death of his daughter and the filing of an FIR against MLA Aaditya Thackeray. The hearing was initially brought before Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Neela Gokhale.
During the proceedings, Salian’s legal team emphasized that the matter falls under crimes against women, suggesting that it should be handled by the division bench headed by Justice Sarang Kotwal, specialized in such cases. Following this representation, the court directed the registry to ensure the petition is reviewed by the recommended bench.
Disha Salian, a former celebrity manager, tragically died on June 8, 2020, after allegedly falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Malad, a suburb of Mumbai. The incident was initially recorded as an accidental death by the Mumbai police, who prepared an Accidental Death Report (ADR). However, the circumstances surrounding her death have led to persistent public and media speculation, linking her case with the subsequent death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead six days later on June 14, 2020. Rajput was a former client of Salian.

In his plea, Satish Salian has expressed dissatisfaction with the Mumbai police’s investigation, alleging it was a politically driven cover-up to protect certain influential figures. He claims that his daughter was brutally raped and murdered, and he accuses the police of hastily concluding the case as a suicide or accidental death without thoroughly examining forensic evidence, circumstantial proof, and eyewitness testimonies.
This case has drawn significant attention due to its alleged connections to high-profile individuals and the tragic, closely timed death of Sushant Singh Rajput, which was also transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) following uproar over the initial handling by local police.
