Bombay High Court Clerk Recruitment Test Faces Protests Over Technical Glitches

Aspirants appearing for the Bombay High Court clerk recruitment typing examination staged a protest in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Sunday following technical failures and server glitches, demanding that the test be re-conducted.

The demonstration, supported by Cockroach Janta Party convenor Abhijeet Dipke, erupted after candidates reported widespread computer malfunctions during the online test.

Addressing the disruptions, the Bombay High Court registrar (personnel) issued a statement confirming that while the overall examination process conducted through an external agency ran smoothly, technical issues occurred at certain test centres, notably in Aurangabad and Kalyan.

The registrar stated that the testing agency is currently examining the technical problems and that official communications will inform affected candidates regarding further course of action.

System Failures Disrupt Morning Session

The online typing test was organized in three sessions for 1,300 clerk vacancies across the Nagpur and Aurangabad benches of the High Court. Around 13,000 candidates across Maharashtra were eligible for the examination, with approximately 2,900 appearing across various centres in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Disruptions were reported during the morning session held between 10:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., particularly at an examination centre located in the Surananagar area. Candidates reported that computer screens turned yellow, keyboards and computer mice stopped responding, and several test-takers were logged out of the system within 10 minutes of starting.

Dipke visited the Surananagar centre to meet affected applicants, many of whom had spent six to seven months preparing for the examination and had travelled from distant districts, including Beed, Ambajogai, Amravati, and Latur.

Criticizing the administration for failing to ensure functional computer infrastructure and server stability before conducting online tests, Dipke stated that candidates were unfairly declared as failed due to system breakdowns rather than their own fault.

Protesters called for an immediate written notification announcing a complete re-examination on new equipment. Dipke also requested that a district court judge present inside the examination centre provide a written commitment regarding a fresh test, declaring that he would continue demonstrating alongside candidates until their demands were fulfilled.
