Anyone Can Buy Land in Jammu and Kashmir, Yes after the notification of new law by Centre it is possible.
Today, the Ministry of Home Affairs has notified Land Laws for Jammu and Kashmir.
Due to this Law now any citizen of India can buy land in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Adaptation of Central Laws) Third Order, 2020 has been notified with immediate effect.
The General Clauses Act, 1897 shall be applicable for interpretation of this Order.
Earlier the Parliament abrogated Article 370 and reconstituted the State of Jammu and Kashmir as Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Now anyone can buy land in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
However, agricultural land will not be available for buying.
The notification issued by the Government omits the term “permanent resident of Jammu and Kashmir”,
which was the requirement for buying land in Jammu and Kashmir.
This notification provides that the Government may on the written request of an
Army officer not below the rank of Corp Commander declare an area as Strategic Area
within a local area, only for the purpose of training requirements of armed forces.
Under Section 133-J of this Act, the Government may allow the transfer of land in favour of
an institution or person for the purpose of healthcare or education promotion.
