The Allahabad High Court has provided relief to three boys expelled from their school in Amroha for bringing non-vegetarian food in their tiffin boxes. In response to a writ petition filed by Sabra and three others, the court has ordered the district magistrate of Amroha to ensure the children are enrolled in a different Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) affiliated school within two weeks.
Justices Siddharth and SC Sharma, who presided over the case, expressed concern over the children’s right to education being compromised due to the school’s decision. The petition highlighted that the principal had specifically objected to the children bringing non-vegetarian food, leading to their expulsion.
The court’s directive mandates the district magistrate to submit an affidavit confirming the children’s admission into a new school by the set deadline. Failure to do so will require the magistrate to appear personally in court. The matter is scheduled for a further hearing on January 6, 2025, to ensure compliance and review any outstanding issues.
