Allahabad High Court Denies Bail to Azam Khan and Son in Government Property Theft Case

In a recent ruling, the Allahabad High Court refused bail to former Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam Khan in a case involving the theft of a government-owned road-cleaning machine. The decision was delivered by Justice Samit Gopal on Saturday, following extensive arguments that concluded with the court reserving its order on September 2.

The case against the Khans, including five other individuals, was registered in 2022 by Wakar Ali Khan following the shift in state government. The complaint lodged at Kotwali police station in Rampur district accused them of misappropriating the road-cleaning machine originally purchased by the Nagar Palika Parishad of Rampur. The allegations suggest that the theft occurred in 2014, leveraging their political influence.

Further complicating the case, the stolen machine was later discovered within the premises of Jauhar University in Rampur, an institution closely associated with the Khan family. This discovery has added weight to the accusations of misuse of authority and misappropriation of public assets.
