Allahabad High Court Calls Response from ‘Informant’ Akash Saxena in Abdullah Azam Khan’s Fake Passport Allegation Case

The Allahabad High Court, on Wednesday, took a significant step in the ongoing legal saga involving Abdullah Azam Khan, son of the veteran Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, over allegations of possessing a fake passport. Justice Rajeev Mishra issued a notice to Akash Saxena, the informant in the case, directing him to submit a response regarding Abdullah’s petition.

Abdullah’s petition challenges a previous order dated March 19, 2024, by the CJM (MP/MLA) Court in Rampur. The order in question denied Abdullah’s request to present evidence that could potentially question the authenticity of his passport. In the latest developments, the High Court’s decision to involve Saxena comes after the realization that he had not been made a party to the case, which led to the reservation of judgment on July 18 and the deferment of its dictation.

The matter saw further progression as Abdullah’s counsel submitted an impleadment application, arguing the necessity of making Saxena a party to the proceedings. The court acknowledged this argument, noting the absence of the first informant could render the application unsustainable due to the non-joinder of necessary and proper parties.

The court remarked, “Having heard the learned counsel for the applicant, the learned Additional Advocate General, and upon perusal of the affidavit filed in support of the impleadment application, this court finds that the impleadment prayed for by the learned counsel for the applicant is necessary.”
