The Allahabad High Court has held that a private CCTV camera cannot be installed or positioned in a way that interferes with a neighbour’s privacy. The Court disposed of a writ petition raising the issue and directed the District Magistrate concerned to decide the petitioner’s grievance within one month.

Court’s Findings
Setting out its view on the issue, the Bench observed:
“In our considered view, no private CCTV camera can be installed and positioned in such a manner as to interfere with the privacy of a neighbour.”
Outcome
