A seven-member committee led by Additional Advocate General Rahul Sethi has been set up to recommend improvements to Indore’s traffic management system following directions issued by the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
The committee will examine measures to streamline traffic movement and facilitate coordination among the authorities responsible for managing the city’s roads and junctions.
Its first meeting has been scheduled for October 31. Sethi has directed all committee members to attend with proposals and practical suggestions for addressing traffic management issues, officials said on Thursday.
High Court Directed Improvements at Major Junctions
The initiative follows an October 13 order of the Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, which instructed the authorities to take necessary steps to improve traffic management in the city.
The court also directed that sufficient police personnel be deployed at major traffic junctions to ensure effective regulation of vehicular movement.
Senior Officials Included in Committee
Apart from Sethi, who will chair the committee, its members include the district collector, municipal commissioner, chief executive officer of Indore Smart City Development Ltd, deputy commissioner of traffic police, a government advocate and a civil engineer.
Officials said the committee’s recommendations will focus on improving traffic arrangements and strengthening coordination between the departments concerned, in accordance with the High Court’s directions.
