Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Three Judges for Appointment as Chief Justices of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and J&K&L High Courts

The Supreme Court Collegium on Monday recommended the elevation of three High Court judges as Chief Justices of the Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Courts.

The recommendations were made at the Collegium’s meeting held on August 31, 2026.

Justice Sanjay K. Agrawal of the Chhattisgarh High Court has been recommended for appointment as Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court.

Justice Alpesh Yeshvant Kogje, presently a judge of the Gujarat High Court, has been recommended for appointment as Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

The Collegium has also recommended Justice Dr. Pushpendra Singh Bhati of the Rajasthan High Court for appointment as Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

The Collegium statement lists the three recommendations as follows:

  1. Justice Sanjay K. Agrawal — Chhattisgarh High Court → Rajasthan High Court
  2. Justice Alpesh Yeshvant Kogje — Gujarat High Court → Madhya Pradesh High Court
  3. Justice Dr. Pushpendra Singh Bhati — Rajasthan High Court → High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh
