The Allahabad High Court has rejected the bail plea of Mohammad Umar, the eldest son of late gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad, in a case involving extortion, physical assault, and death threats.
Justice Avnish Saxena issued the order dismissing Umar’s application for bail.
The legal proceedings stem from a First Information Report lodged at the Khuldabad police station on April 26, 2023, based on a complaint by Mohd Muslim.
Details of Extortion Allegations
According to the police complaint, Umar allegedly demanded Rs 20,00,000 while threatening the complainant’s life, assaulting him, and attempting kidnapping. Five others were named alongside Umar in the case, including Ali Ahmad, Asad Kalia, Mohd Nasrat, and two unidentified individuals.
Recent Family Developments
The court decision follows a recent fatality in the family. On August 6, Atiq Ahmad’s youngest son, 20-year-old Aban Ahmad, and a friend were killed in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi district when their SUV struck a road divider.
