The Supreme Court announced on Friday that it will oversee government measures aimed at preventing question paper leaks in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), following assurances from the Centre that stringent safeguards are being instituted.
During the hearing, the apex court remarked that reliance on temporary and ad-hoc arrangements to conduct the examination securely had generated persistent issues over the years.
Transition To Digital Testing
Addressing future examination protocols, the bench stated that it expects the government to implement robust measures regarding cybersecurity and data protection. This expectation comes as the National Testing Agency plans to transition the NEET-UG examination to a computer-based format starting next year.
Government Assurances And Oversight
Representing the Union government, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the court that the Centre is prepared to take extensive measures to address the concerns and difficulties faced by students. He further stated that all current corrective actions and administrative steps are being carried out under direct supervision at the highest executive level.
