The High Court of Chhattisgarh has issued a critical notice informing stakeholders of a major technical upgrade to the “eCourts Services Mobile App.” As per the directions of the eCommittee, Supreme Court of India, the application is transitioning from its legacy framework to a modern architecture (Version 4.0), necessitating immediate action from users to prevent data loss.
The upgraded version is scheduled to go live on May 5, 2026. Consequently, all users and stakeholders have been requested to back up their saved cases using the “Export” feature in the current application by May 4, 2026.
Technical Transition and Performance Enhancements
The notice, issued by Registrar General Rajnish Shrivastava, highlights that Version 4.0 marks a significant technological shift from the “legacy Cordova hybrid framework to React Native v0.77.0.” This transition is intended to ensure high performance, smoother animations, and better responsiveness under heavy data loads.
Key core enhancements include:
- Technological Compliance: The app now targets Android 14 (API level 34), ensuring compatibility with the latest hardware and continued availability on the Google Play Store.
- Performance Upgrade: The move to a native rendering engine facilitates faster load times and more efficient resource management.
- Ergonomic UI Redesign: Based on expert consultation, the app will feature a minimalist design with a bottom-tab navigation menu, specifically optimized for easier one-handed use.
New Functional Features
The Version 4.0 rollout introduces several functional improvements aimed at enhancing user experience across all judicial tiers:
- Direct Order Access: Clickable links within the “Case Status” screen will allow users to view and download order PDFs directly.
- Case Conversion Tracking: A new dedicated table will enable users to track both old and new case numbers for converted cases.
- Improved Personalization: The “My Cases” section will now utilize pagination (10 records per page) to resolve previous issues of unresponsiveness and “page hanging.”
- Unified Quick Links: Secondary services such as ePay, NJDG, and eFiling are now consolidated into a single “Quick Links” menu for intuitive navigation.
- Map Integration: The app is now integrated with BHUVAN maps to assist users in locating various Court Complexes.
Mandatory Data Backup
The High Court emphasized that the backup is essential due to the change in the underlying storage architecture. “To safeguard user data, and ensure a seamless migration across all judicial tiers, it is mandatory to take data backup of the mobile App,” the notice states.
Users are advised to utilize the “Export” feature within their current version of the app before the May 4 deadline to ensure their saved cases are migrated safely to the new React Native storage system.
