PMLA Case Linked to PFI: Delhi High Court Grants Bail to SDPI President M.K. Faizy

The Delhi High Court on Monday granted bail to Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) national president M.K. Faizy in a money laundering case linked to the banned Popular Front of India (PFI).

Justice Neena Bansal Krishna pronounced the order. The detailed judgment is awaited.

Faizy had been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in March last year at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, in connection with a probe under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). A trial court had rejected his bail plea in August 2025.

The ED has alleged that the SDPI functioned as the “political front” of the PFI and that funds were routed from the PFI to the SDPI. The Union government had banned the PFI in September 2022, declaring it an “unlawful association”.

The case forms part of a wider crackdown on the PFI, which saw coordinated raids and enforcement actions by the ED, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and multiple state police forces prior to the ban.
