A Delhi court on Thursday permitted Dr Shaheen Saeed, accused in the 2025 Red Fort blast case, to meet her counsel while in the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna passed the order after Advocate Rahul Sahani moved an application seeking a meeting with Dr Saeed during her NIA custody. The court allowed the meeting for 15 minutes on January 15 between 4 PM and 5 PM, directing that it be held in accordance with prescribed rules and regulations.
“Considering the submissions made, application under consideration is allowed and Advocate Rahul Sahani is permitted to have meeting with accused Dr Shaheen Saeed in NIA custody for 15 minutes only for today itself, i.e., January 15, 2026, between 4 pm to 5 pm, after observing rules and regulations,” the court noted in its order.
This direction came a day after the court had extended Dr Saeed’s NIA custody by three more days in connection with the ongoing probe.
Dr Saeed is among the nine individuals arrested so far by the NIA in the Red Fort bombing case. The blast occurred on November 10, 2025, when a car rigged with explosives detonated outside the historic monument, killing 15 people. The agency has identified the driver of the explosive-laden vehicle as suicide bomber Umar-un-Nabi.
The investigation into the deadly blast is being carried out under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and other relevant legal provisions.
