Jharkhand High Court Quashes FIR Against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey in Alleged Assault Case

The Jharkhand High Court on Monday quashed criminal proceedings against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey in connection with an alleged assault incident linked to accusations of cow smuggling in Deoghar district.

Dubey, the Member of Parliament from Godda, had approached the high court challenging the FIR registered against him at Manoharpur police station in Deoghar.

According to the complaint, the incident took place in December 2023 at the Manoharpur market, where Dubey was accused of assaulting a person on allegations that he was illegally selling cattle. The FIR further alleged that the BJP leader used his political influence to assault the complainant and branded him a “Bangladeshi cattle smuggler”.

After hearing the matter at length, the high court found no grounds to allow the criminal proceedings to continue and accordingly quashed the FIR against Dubey.
