Centre Sets December 20 Deadline for Justice J. Nisha Banu to Join Kerala High Court

The Union Government has formally set a timeline for the transfer of Justice J. Nisha Banu, directing the Madras High Court judge to assume her new duties at the Kerala High Court by next week.

According to a notification issued by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice, on Thursday, December 12, 2025, the President of India has directed Justice Banu to assume charge of her office in the Kerala High Court on or before December 20, 2025.

Official Directive Following October Transfer

The latest order, signed by Joint Secretary Jagannath Srinivasan, serves as a follow-up to the initial transfer notification issued two months ago. The Centre had previously notified the transfer of Justice Banu from the Madras High Court to the Kerala High Court on October 14, 2025.

The directive states that the President, “after consultation with the Chief Justice of India,” is pleased to issue this instruction regarding the assumption of charge.
