A Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in Delhi has ordered compensation of ₹28.2 lakh to the family of a 47-year-old man who lost his life in a 2017 road accident on the Yamuna Expressway.

The tribunal, presided over by Officer Vikram, was hearing a claim petition filed by the family of Shaheed Ahmed, who died after the bus he was travelling in met with an accident on November 8, 2017.

In its order dated October 30, the tribunal held that the accident occurred due to the rash and negligent driving of the bus driver. “It is held that the rashness and negligence on the part of the driver of the offending vehicle (bus) is clearly visible,” the tribunal observed, noting that the driver failed to follow traffic rules, leading to the mishap.
