Jharkhand HC Refuses to Vacate Stay on JSSC CGL 2023 Results; CID Asked to File Status Report

The Jharkhand High Court on Thursday declined to vacate the stay on the publication of results of the 2023 Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC CGL) examination, conducted last year.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan and Justice Rajesh Shankar was hearing a petition filed by Prakash Kumar, who alleged that the question papers of the exam were leaked, jeopardising the future of candidates. Acting on these allegations, the court had initially imposed a stay on December 17, 2023.

On Thursday, the bench directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is probing the matter, to submit an up-to-date status report. The petitioner also urged the court to hand over the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), citing the seriousness of the allegations.

The court posted the matter for further hearing on October 15.

The JSSC CGL examination was held on September 21 and 22, 2023, with nearly 3.04 lakh candidates appearing for the test. The results, however, remain withheld due to the ongoing investigation into the alleged paper leak.
