The Gujarat High Court was the target of a bomb threat email on Monday, just days after similar hoax messages were sent to the Delhi and Mumbai High Courts. Police later confirmed that the threat was a false alarm after conducting a thorough search of the premises.
Third Hoax Since June
This marks the third such false bomb alert received by the Gujarat High Court since June this year. The latest email, sent to the court’s official ID on Monday morning, claimed that RDX had been planted inside the premises.
Inspector K.N. Bhukan of Sola Police Station said that once the threat was reported by court officials, security teams quickly moved into action. “Local police, along with a dog squad, and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad reached the spot and started scanning all the buildings in the high court premises without disturbing the proceedings,” he stated.
Security Measures Taken
The search operation covered all court buildings, judges’ chambers, as well as parked and incoming vehicles. Proceedings at the High Court continued without disruption during the security sweep.
Following an exhaustive inspection, police declared the premises safe, confirming that no suspicious material was found.
Courts across major Indian cities have recently been targeted by hoax bomb threat emails. Authorities suspect that these threats are part of a pattern meant to create panic and disrupt judicial functioning. Investigations are underway to trace the source of the emails.
