Chhattisgarh HC Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha Virtually Inaugurates ADR Centre, Lays Foundation for New Court Buildings in Mahasamund

1st August, 2025: In a momentous advancement towards fortifying judicial infrastructure in Chhattisgarh, the newly established Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre at the District Court, Mahasamund, was graciously inaugurated through a virtual ceremony today. The occasion also witnessed the virtual laying of the foundation stone for the proposed Family Court Building at Mahasamund, as well as the upcoming Civil Court building at Saraipali and Basna, within District Mahasamund. The virtual ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh, who virtually  inaugurated the facilities.

After the virtual inauguration a brief video presentation highlighting the ADR building was showcased.

Joining His Lordship were present Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjay K. Agrawal, Judge, High Court of Chhattisgarh and Executive Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority, and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Deepak Kumar Tiwari, Judge, High Court of Chhattisgarh and Portfolio Judge, District Mahasamund.

Also present were the Registrar General and Officers of the Registry, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Judicial Officers, District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police, Office-bearers of Bar Associations, and Court personnel from Mahasamund District. The Judicial officers of other districts joined the programme virtually.

Hon’ble  the Chief Justice Mr. Ramesh Sinha began his address by appreciating the natural beauty of Chhattisgarh, stating that we are all nestled in the lap of nature. His Lordship underscored the critical importance of developing modern, well-equipped court infrastructure as a cornerstone for the efficient and timely delivery of justice. He highlighted that the quality of physical infrastructure directly impacts the functioning of the judiciary, influencing not only the performance of judicial officers and court staff but also the experience of litigants and advocates. He further affirmed  the utility of  ADR building, noting that it will play a vital role in resolving cases through Alternative Dispute Resolution under the ongoing ‘Mediation for the Nation’ initiative led by the Hon’ble Apex Court. He asserted that in the current judicial landscape, there is a growing emphasis on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms, such as mediation and arbitration, which require dedicated spaces and specialised facilities to function effectively. Strengthening such infrastructure is essential for promoting speedy, affordable, and amicable resolution of disputes.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Smt.Anita Dahariya, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Mahasamund, who highlighted the significance of the project and extended her gratitude to the dignitaries and stakeholders involved.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Shri  Prafull Kumar Sonwani, Judge, Family Court, Mahasamund who conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Justice, Hon’ble Judges, Officers of District administration and the dedicated team members whose combined efforts made this event successful.

This initiative underscores the Chhattisgarh judiciary’s unwavering commitment to ensuring accessible, efficient, and citizen-centric justice delivery through robust infrastructure and modernised legal facilities.
