The Central government has approved the transfer of Justice Valluri Kameswar Rao from the Karnataka High Court back to the Delhi High Court, marking his return to his parent High Court after a year-long tenure.
A notification issued by the Union Law Ministry stated, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 222 of the Constitution of India, the President, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to transfer Shri Justice Valluri Kameswar Rao, Judge, Karnataka High Court, to be a Judge of Delhi High Court and to direct him to assume charge of his office in the Delhi High Court.”
Justice Rao had initially been elevated as an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court on April 17, 2013, and was made a permanent judge on March 18, 2015. In May 2024, following his personal request, he was transferred to the Karnataka High Court, where he assumed office on June 1, 2024.

His latest transfer order clears the way for his repatriation to the Delhi High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his return, which has now been formalized through the government notification issued on Monday.
