The Madhya Pradesh High Court has partially lifted its earlier stay on the declaration of NEET-UG 2025 results, allowing the National Testing Agency (NTA) to announce results for all centres across India except 11 affected centres in Indore that faced a power outage during the May 4 exam.
The decision came a day after the court initially stayed the declaration of NEET-UG results nationwide in response to a petition by a Chennai-based student who appeared for the exam in Indore. The petitioner claimed that a power failure at her exam centre had severely hampered her performance and urged the court to allow her a re-examination.
On Friday, Justice Subodh Abhyankar modified the interim order after hearing arguments presented by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and Deputy Solicitor General Himanshu Joshi. The government representatives argued that the nationwide results should not be held up due to a localised issue affecting only a limited number of centres in Indore.

“The NTA should be permitted to declare the results for the rest of the country, as the technical disruption was confined to 11 centres in Indore,” they submitted.
Counsel for the petitioner, Mradul Bhatnagar, opposed the modification, warning that if the petitioner was not allowed to reappear for the exam in time, she might lose the opportunity to participate in the medical counselling process.
However, the court accepted the government’s plea and clarified in its order:
“This court is inclined to modify the order passed on 15.05.2025, to the extent that the respondents may be allowed to declare the results for all the other centres in India, except the affected centres at Indore, in which the power failure was faced by the students, and the details of which shall be furnished by the respondents along with their reply.”
