The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) informed the Supreme Court on Thursday that it is prepared to publish the revised results of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT-UG) 2025 within two hours of the uploading of the Court’s final order dated May 7.
The update came during the hearing of a Special Leave Petition filed by CLAT candidate Hardik Garg, who had challenged the conduct and evaluation of the CLAT-UG 2025 exam. A bench comprising Chief Justice of India Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai and Justice Augustine George Masih was hearing the matter.
When the CJI noted that the May 7 order would be uploaded later today, Advocate Arun Sri Kumar, appearing on behalf of the NLU Consortium, responded, “We are just awaiting the final order, then we will publish the results in 2 hours. We have instructed the vendor on the basis of the oral dictation, if the order comes, we will release it (results).” He confirmed that the results would be published this evening.
CJI Gavai further informed the counsel that the order had already been signed the day before and added, “We will just publish right now (the final order).”
During the hearing, the bench declined to entertain the petition filed by Hardik Garg. The CJI remarked, “This cannot go on,” indicating that further litigation on the matter would not be permitted.
The controversy around the CLAT-UG 2025 exam, conducted on December 1, 2024, began after several candidates raised concerns about inaccuracies in the answer keys. In response, a single judge of the Delhi High Court ruled in December 2024 that at least two answers in the exam were incorrect and directed the Consortium to revise the results for the affected candidates.
The Consortium challenged the ruling before a division bench of the Delhi High Court. On April 23, 2025, the bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela partially allowed the appeal and ordered specific revisions.
Subsequently, the matter reached the Supreme Court, which on May 7, 2025, set aside the High Court’s ruling and issued fresh directions regarding deletion of certain questions and award of marks. The publication of the final order has been awaited to implement these directions.
The Consortium’s assurance today signals that CLAT-UG 2025 candidates may finally receive their updated results later this evening, bringing clarity to an exam season marred by legal disputes.
