Justices Arindam Sinha and Chandra Dhari Singh Take Oath as Judges of the Allahabad High

In a significant judiciary development, Justices Arindam Sinha and Chandra Dhari Singh were officially sworn in as judges of the Allahabad High Court on Monday, April 7, 2025. The oath-taking ceremony marks the continuation of their distinguished careers within India’s judicial system, bringing extensive experience and legal acumen to one of the country’s most prominent high courts.

Justice Arindam Sinha, originally appointed as an Additional Judge of the Calcutta High Court on October 30, 2013, and later confirmed as a Permanent Judge on March 14, 2016, has had a noteworthy judicial journey. After his tenure at the Calcutta High Court, he was transferred to the Orissa High Court, where he was sworn in on October 8, 2021. His leadership qualities were soon recognized, leading to his role as Acting Chief Justice from January 19 to March 25, 2025, preceding Chief Justice Harish Tandon’s appointment.

Justice Chandra Dhari Singh has similarly impressive credentials. Appointed as an Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court on September 22, 2017, and later as a Permanent Judge on September 6, 2019, he briefly served at the Delhi High Court following his transfer on October 11, 2021. The decision for his return to the Allahabad High Court was part of a strategic move recommended by the Collegium in November 2024 under the leadership of Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna. The Central Government approved this repatriation on March 28, 2025.
